City : Apprenticeships Exchange : Getting an Apprenticeship

Apprenticeships Exchange

A way to get prepared for an apprenticeship is to do a traineeship. Traineeships provide the essential work preparation training, maths and English and work experience needed to get an Apprenticeship or other job. Click here for more information on traineeships. In West Berkshire, both Newbury College and West Berkshire Training Consortium offer Traineeships.

Straight to apprenticeship

If you have the right skills already, you can just apply directly to an apprenticeship. You can apply all year round but most placements start in August / September, so start researching what you might like to do in October and aim to be filling out application forms in Christmas and January time. Interviews can take place any time of the year but most are from June to September.

The best place to start searching for opportunities is to go to the NAS website. There are 1,000s of apprenticeships across Berkshire and you can find out more on how to apply to each of them on the third floor and fourth floor of this building.
Registration is free and only takes a couple of minutes.
