Top Ten Tips:
We know that job searching is tough and it can sometimes feel like you'll never find the right job - but you will, it just takes time and thought.
Below we've listed out top ten tips for successful job searching...
1) Be realistic and honest
When searching for the right job for you it's wise to be realistic about what you can and cannot do. If a job requires a specific qualification you don't have, it might not make sense to apply for it!
Be honest about things that affect your job search - for example, what you enjoy doing or the level of commitment you can take on.
2) Be flexible
Try not to get stuck in a rut looking for one specific job role - if you're more flexible about what job you'd be happy with, you might find the perfect role unexpectedly!
3) Be polite
Always be polite whether you're writing up an application, chatting to a recruitment consultant, or getting some careers advice.
Being nice and friendly gives off a good impression and is vital for getting on in work!
4) Think about your future
Have a think about what kind of career you'd like in the future and where you might like to be in 5 - 10 years.
You might simply want a job to give you some extra money for now, but if you think about how that job might progress in the future, it can make your life easier when searching for your perfect career.
5) Set goals
Set yourself some achievable goals so you know what you're searching for and how long you have to do it.

6) Stay positive

7) Try more than one method
If you're currently only searching for jobs on job sites, try a different method.
You can try checking local job boards, visit your local Job Centre Plus for help, or even check spcecific company websites for open job roles. You can even try applying speculatively to companies you'd like to work for.
8) Focus your applications
When applying for a job it's a good idea to focus your application towards that specific role.
You can do this by emphasising the skills you have that are relevant to the role and writing your Cover Letter directly to the employers.
9) Ask for help
Never be afraid or embarrassed to ask for help with job searching if you need it.
You can ask your parents, teachers you know well, or contact a careers adviser. You can check out our Careers Advice Hall to find out about how you can get careers advice and how it can help.
10) Get LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a great way to connect with companies that you're interested in or those that work in sectors you're interested in.
You can see industry news and make connections to those that might have job openings coming up.
